Guided Fly Fishing Trips - Burn's Lake & Story Lake
Burns Lake is one of several private lakes in the Livingston area
that offer outstanding stillwater fly fishing for rainbows, browns
and cutthroat trout. One of the best is Burns Lake, 40 miles east
of us in the foothills of the Crazy Mountains. Burns Lake is a perfect
lake to float with a boat. We can take you there and utilize our
drift boats for some very comfortable and exciting fly fishing. Hatches
of damselflies and Callibaetis mayflies (as well as hoppers later
in the summer) provide some fun fly fishing.
Burns Lake offer some outstanding fly fishing and a nice change of
pace from the other streams and rivers we fish. Daily rod fees are
$100 per person per day.
Story's Lake, a private held fee-based lake. Nelson Story settled
in Bozeman in the mid-1800s. He drove 3,000 head of cattle from Texas
to Bozeman against the wishes of the US Army who feared for his safety.
Because the army did not want him to continue, much of the drive
was done in the night where Story was able to sneak the cattle through.
These cattle formed the beginnings of Montana’s strong cattle industry.
He was a strong supporter of the beginnings of Montana State College,
now MSU, and the historical Ellen Theater, in downtown Bozeman, is
named after his wife.
The Story family still reside in Montana. They maintain a great fly
fishing lake with numerous rainbows that eat up small terrestrials
and mayflies.
