Montana Fly Fishing Guides – Headed to the Keys

Montana Fly Fishing Tripschoose All Inclusive Inset

Well it’s time for Eric Adams and his Dad to head down to the Florida Keys for a few days. Florida has been hit hard by the cool weather this spring so we’ll see what happens – at the very least we’ll have a great time looking for Bonefish and Tarpon with Captain Ted Christie and Captain Perry Coleman.

We’ll be able to keep you updated via the Mobile so stay tuned!

Pending World Record Bonefish

World Record Bonefish
Our good friend Captain Ted Christie of the Florida Keys and angler Michael Swerdlow of Islamorada caught a pending world record bonefish on fly November 27, 2008.  Michael’s bonefish weighed 15 pounds, 4 ounces and was on the 16-pound tippet.  Michael is a dedicated angler spending countless days looking for these monster ghosts of the flats.

The previous IGFA men’s record was 14 pounds, 12 ounces on November 2001 also at Islamorada.

Pictured are Captains Tim Kline, Ted Christie, and angler Michael Swerdlow and the world record bonefish.

MFG in the Florida Keys

Our good friend and Florida Keys Captian Ted Christie invited me down for a week of great flats fishing. Our Primary target was the elusive Permit. Three of the 5 days were dedicated to these occasional flats dwellers with one exceptional day where Ted put me on 15 different fish. We almost had it a few times (man those buggers have huge eyes).  I wish I had a few of those shots back again but there’s always next year. We did manage to boat a few bonefish, including this 10.5 lb’er which is always worth the trip all by itself. Thanks, Ted for another great trip. We’ll see you in March of 2010 for another round.

If you’d like to go fishing with Capt. Ted, I highly recommend it.  Did I mention that he recently guided a client to a world record Bonefish?  Check out our post on that one.
